Non-Technical Vounteers Urgently Needed for the London Regional Youths Championships

London Swimming are desperately looking for non – technical volunteers to help us run the Regional Youth Championships. 

The Youth competition is at the London Aquatic Centre on 29th and 30th April and 1st May 2017.

We are desperately short of non technical volunteers (no experience required) for the Regional Youth Championships. • Marshals– 3 per session • Withdrawals desk - 1 • Programme sales – 2 to 3 per session • Post results and gala schedules – 2 • Refreshments - 2 • Announcer - 1 You will need  to arrive before warm up and stay to the end of the session, but all roles have a view of the pool to observe the swimming.

Regional Staff

I am delighted to announce that Suzanne Philpot has been appointed as the Regional Executive Officer and Kelly Stannard has been appointed as the Administration and Member Services Officer of London Swimming with effect from 1 April.  Both will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and their work will be dedicated to the Region and its members.  They will join the Board and volunteers in delivering the Regional Strategy which focuses on meeting the needs of competitive and non-competitive athletes, volunteers and clubs.

National Junior Para Swimming Championships 2017

This is a new national Para-Swimming event, for swimmers aged 10 – 16 years as at 31st December 2017. It will be swum across 24th and 25th June in Sunderland, offering exciting racing for the more experienced swimmers and a great introduction to national events for newly classified swimmers.
There will also be a classification opportunity for those on the classification waiting list.
All the details of how to enter and when entries need to be received by can be found in the entry pack.

Competitive Swimming Meets - documents modified.....

With effect from Thursday 16th March 2017, the following amendments have been made to documents for these meets;

2017 Youth Championships
Dates for final submission of "Team List" and "Order of Swim" forms changed;
  1. “Team List” for each club MUST be submitted by 10pm, 17th April 2017.
  2. “Team Order of Swim“ for all teams entered MUST be submitted by 6pm, 28th April 2017.
  3. Changes to “Team Order of Swim” will be accepted on the day of competition for valid reasons PROVIDING any substitutes name(s) are on the declared team list.
Following the application of this change the following documents have been modified and re-published;

ASA/NSPCC Time to Listen Workshop - 26 March 2017

ASA/NSPCC Time to Listen workshop – Sunday 26 March 10.30am – 1.30pm at Heston Pools & Fitness, New Heston Road, Hounslow TW5 0LW
Cost: £10 per person

The Time to Listen workshop provides the opportunity to acquire key knowledge necessary for the role and responsibilities of a Club Welfare Officer, to adopt a child-focused approach to safeguarding and to learn about the action/s which should be taken should any incident occur.
In order to attend this course, the pre-requisite of having attended either the Sports Coach UK Safeguarding & Protecting Children course (or valid equivalent) must be met.
