A strategy to get London Swimming 2008-2012+
By now all clubs should have received a printed copy of our strategy. If you would like additional printed copies then email london@swimming.org mailto:london@swimming.org making sure you include your postal address. You can also download a copy from our homepage www.londonswimming.org http://www.londonswimming.org

Colin Brown (RD) The definite highlight of the week was receiving Partner of the Year at the Pro-Active Awards http://www.londonswimming.org/news/article/display/260
This was then followed by the low point when London Swimming lost the Special Council Resolution to invest in a company developing an affordable mobile pool solution. It was interesting to hear the reasons why clubs and individuals felt that the Region should and should not invest. Importantly I hope we got the message across that the Region has to make its finances work to deliver our strategy to do so in a way where we become financially sustainable. The rest of the week has involved interviewing prospective candidates for the Director of Swimming in Southwark and attending the Regional Directors meeting in Loughborough. From the 20-26 March Colin will be taking annual leave.

Next week: Colin will be on annual leave until the 26 March and then visiting a prospective diving programme site in Putney and attending various Everyday Swim meetings.

Last week Mark Griggs (EDO) was on leave for most of the week but attended the National Education Officer Meeting.

Mark would like to remind everyone that the 66% skills active coaching bursaries are only available until the end of March, and the criteria has changed to include those working leisure centres.
The following training opportunities still have spaces, please book now as a 10 day cut off date in now in force.

After celebrating the success of her Lewisham EDS colleague Tracey Pereira at the Pro-Active awards last Friday, Jo Melchior (EDS – Lewisham) started this week working on end of year finance and monitoring reports. Also she attended a Disability Gala run by Bromley for young disabled people with more complex needs. The idea is to take the best elements from this event and others like it and to work on a framework for a Lewisham gala focused more on fun and participation rather than swimming, later in the year. Next week sees work on workforce development within the plan and the advertising and marketing of swimming to the NDC area.

Annabel Kehoe (EDS – Islington) is on annual leave this week.
