A strategy to get London Swimming 2008-2012+

London Swimming & ASA Aquaforce have a joined forces for the nominations for this years award. If you value the amount of effort that athletes, coaches, teachers, club officials put in then nominate them http://www.londonswimming.org/news/article/display/307
 
ASA is undertaking a Constitutional Review http://www.britishswimming.org/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,5157-189534-206757-nav-list,00.html. The ASA Constitution has a large impact on how the sport through its club operates. Please comment.
 
ASA Committee Review Consultation
The ASA is currently undertaking a committees review. Members views are invited on the purpose and structure of its committees in order to ensure that they are fit for purpose to deliver key objectives set out in the ASA’s Strategic Plan and Vision. Colin Brown (RD): This week Colin has had a very productive meeting with key partners to score 'A strategy to Get London Swimming 2008-2012+'. The scores and comments will then be published as part of our annual report to members in September. Colin also met with met Barking & Dagenham PCT over their investment into swimming to re-dress health inequalities. Colin and Cathy attended a networking session with local authorities and partnership development managers in North London. Colin also helped Hillingdon Council and clubs to building their vision for a Borough wide swimming programme. At the end of week Colin will be meeting with David Sparkes and the University of East London on building a strong partnership in East London.
 
Next week: Colin is meeting with Sport England over monitoring and evaluating national governing bodies and catching up on outstanding reports.
 
Last week Mark Griggs (EO) continued to meet with pool operators to finalise structures for setting up a course in Croydon. Mark also attended the induction day of the new tutor-training programme. The programme is being slowly re-started and London is one of the pilot regions as funding has been made available thorough London Leisure College to reduce the price of the programme. The first wave of 6 candidates have sat their exam, and will be starting the programme later this week. This week Janna Callan (RDO) spent two days in Loughborough working on the English Programmes Conference and attending the National Swim21 Panel. 
Next week Janna will be working with Cathy Carr to ensure there is a smooth handover of projects.
 
Cathy Carr (RDO) - Next week will be Cathy's last week with London Swimming. Cathy will be tying up projects, notably the Aqua Extreme project and will meeting with Griffins and Edmonton Phoenix to progress their Swim 21. Cathy will be delivering the team theme day on Friday. Cathy is sad to be leaving London Swimming and thanks the team and partners for making her time with London Swimming an enjoyable and interesting time.
 
This week Jo Calvino (RDDO) has been catching up with work after a week off being poorly, and mainly getting ready for the Diving World Series in Sheffield 24th/25th May, where some of the Worlds top divers will compete prior to the Olympics.
 
This week a revived and refreshed Jo Melchior (EDS – Lewisham) returned to work after her Annual Leave. Monday saw attendance at London Swimming's Key Partner event, which was a great opportunity to highlight the good practice from the Lewisham and Islington projects to a wider leisure audience. The rest of the week has seen Jo busy planning Summer Roadshows, more training for Teachers in the Borough and assisting colleagues at Downham with plans for Downham Celebrates. Next week Jo will be attending the National EDS meeting in Loughborough and working on a major awareness campaign for swimming.

Annabel Kehoe (EDS - Islington) has successfully launched Liquid Swim at all four Aquaterra Leisure managed pools in Islington. The new programme is available for all members to receive three one-to-one appointments with a swimming instructor who covers fitness assessments, stroke technique and programme setting to assist customers achieve their fitness and health goals. Annabel has also been assisting Aquaterra Leisure implement the new National Plan for Teaching Swimming.
 
Next week, Annabel will be heading to Loughborough for an Everyday Swim National Network meeting with all the other coordinators. The week will conclude with London Swimming’s themed day.
